Voil. The bad news: We're missing an awful lot of songs here. Night Moves is Seger's crit-pick album, and a great place to start if you don't have any Seger at all. Next in the rankings is Stranger in Town. Otherwise, his highs are pretty scattered, which would make any best-of package a worthy investment. But if you want to get comprehensive, "Rock Roll Never Forgets," "Fire Down Below," "Horizontal Bop," "Her Strut," "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight," and "Katmandu" aren't on this CD--and you'll have to go to the original albums to secure them. --Gavin McNett Bob Seger and the story of some good tunes. When Bob Seeger is good, he`s very good, but sometimes it swings into "average" but he`s never below average. The reason is that he`s a rock roll craftsman that knows his roots. Track 1 Roll me away is a great opener. You know when Roy Bittan (E street band) just touches the piano tangent in the beginning, you are on the right track. This is a very uplifting song, with the right touch "open space"between the different instruments to make it a classic. Track 2 Night Moves, is more in "so so" country. It`s very traditional but nothing exceptional. Track 3 Turn the page is one of the early Seeger hit`s. Well performed vocal, but the tune is mediocre. Track 4 You`ll accomp`ny me it`s more up there.Easy to get hold of the song. Straightforward roots rock and roll done the "easy way out", but it certainly works. Track 5 Hollywood Nights has an effective rythm all trough. It`s the drumming which does it. Effective down to the smallest beat. Track 6 Still the same. Yeah. That`s all to say folks. It`s likable, but it`s still the same. Track 7. Old time Rock Roll. Woooha. I just said wooha, when i first heard it. This is a jukebox and karaokee favourite, but that`s not all negative. The reason is that it`s so likeable when you hear it you know it`s time for "party party". It`s soooooo rock roll man ! Track 8 We`ve got tonight is a great ballad. Moody and effective. Seeger sing`s with passion and you know he`s meanin` it. Track 9 Against the wind, is classical rock roll with it`s "walkalong tempo" it goes in the right direction from beginning to the end. A classic this one. Track 10 Mainstreet is more in "average" Seger land. It`s certainly ok, but nothing extraordinary. Track 11 The Fire Inside. Bittan is back on the piano, and the uplifting soulcraftmanship is right there it should be. A fiery song that really sparks. Track 12 Like a rock is very straightforward. It has a refrain that it`s repeated. Seeger sing`s great, but that`s not pushing it to much above average. Track 12 C`est la vie it`s a Chuck Berry original that Seger does a very good version of. It`s full of passion and shows the early simple barebone stripdown rock roll roots. Track 13 In youre time is an ok closer, but nothing to shout a big hurray of. As an introduction to Bob Seger this one shows you in the right direction,if you wanna listen to an artist and the story how to put together some good tunes Seger Is Solid....Like A Rock There are some artists you like and are aware of for quite some time, but only the basic stuff and what you may hear in passing on the radio or wherever. Then maybe you pick up a greatest hits album or studio album of theirs somewhere and start to like more of their stuff that you may or may not of known of and start to see more of what this person has to offer. I love little discoveries like this. At the same time, you might also take their past hits you know and give them more appreciation. Bob Seger is one of those kinds of artists for me. I have always known the basics of his catalogue and have liked every single one of them. But I never thought beyond a song I might hear on the radio and so on. I picked up his second GH at the library and loved it. Got it a second time. Loved it even more. Now I have picked up his first greatest hits. As a causual fan, I really can't complain with the packaging or the track list. Most of what people know from Seger is on here(well known Seger songs such as "Shakedown" and "Beautiful Loser" are on GH 2). This disc is basically a refrsher course for the Seger fans who are not quite yet afficiondos. And really, this is a great disc all on it's own for what it is. I am not concerned with what is or isn't on here. A lot of essential great stuff is on GH 2. Maybe there will be a third one somewhere down the line, since these hits things appear to be the only thing Bob does anymore. 10 of the 14 songs here were chart hits for Bob(and not 9 as stated above in another review). I am not sure why this disc would start off with the track "Roll Away"(peaking at #27), when it is hardly a Seger chestnut. But you get a great menu of classic tunes. "Night Moves"(#4) is here, as well as "Mainstreet"(#24), and the hits keep coming. "Still The Same"(#4), "Hollywood Nights"(#12), "We've Got Tonite"(#13), the great "Old Time Rock And Roll"(#28, which is surprising), which is the most requested jukebos song behind Patsy Cline's "Crazy". You'll also get "Against The Wind"(#5), "You'll Accomp'ny Me"(#14), and "Like A Rock"(#12). Two new songs were recorded for the disc. A cover of Chuck Berry's "C'est La Vie", and a new tune, "In Your Time", which must of been a hit on radio since I remember hearing this song. The Seger classic "Turn The Page" is here, but it was never actually a top 40 hit. It doesn't matter. It's a hit to everybody. And there is "The Fire Inside", which didn't even chart, which is too bad because it's a good Seger tune. I always felt that Seger was never given the kind of attention or credit he deserves. He's a masterful rock roller and writer, and has had nice success over the years, but he always seems to get looked over in favor of other blue collar type rockers like Springsteen. I think you can hear Springsteen, and other artists like The Eagles and Creedence/Fogerty in a lot of his music. So, this disc may not be wet the appetite of his most hardcore fans, and putting the 2 GH cd's together might not do the trick either, but this is a great starting point. If you put the two GH's together, you get 30 worthy songs from a wonderful artist. Bob Seger Rules This is a must for all seger fans. This falls behind Live Bullet, but as a non-live cd , it is packed with hits.

Making Movies
Making Movies
Making Movies Artist: Dire Straits (Usually ships in 24 hours) Making Movies is Dire Straits's third album and includes several epic numbers that remain among Mark Knopfler's finest work. "Tunnel of Love, " "Romeo And Juliet" (covered by the Indigo Girls), and "Solid Rock" all work with the same distinctive galloping rhythm underneath Knopfler's country-blues staccato guitar. The addition of Springsteen's E Street Band pianist Roy Bittan hardly seems less a coincidence considering the Springsteen-esque tone of the material. --Rob O'Connor one of the greatest albums ever I'm totally in love with this great album. it has some really great songs. I think Mark knopfler does Tunnel of Love really well and it is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time, and it is really really lovely. please play it at any party. Romeo and Juliet is a great song too, great lyrics and music. But my other favourite one is Espresso love. I think Knopfler does that one really well too, and so for Solid rock and Skateaway. This is one album every rock fan must listen to. I want more and more and more of this album. I love it. Please buy this right now. GREAT AND LOVELY MAKING MOVIES is a great album by one of the greatest rock groups of all time, Dire Straits. This is an awesome love album and contains great love songs like Tunnel Of Love, Expresso Love. Highly recommended along with LOVE OVER GOLD AND ON EVERY STREET. GO GRAB THIS LOVELY ALBUM TODAY. Good but not all that great This is a good album from Dire Straits, but not the best. The great songs are classics Tunnel Of Love, Expresso Love, Solid Rock. But, I get tired of this album really easy after 4 because I realize that this CD is a little slower. Try to get American Idiot from Green Day, it rocks harder and it is noisier and better than this. But I still love Dire Straits, they have talent and make great music.

16 Biggest Hits
16 Biggest Hits
16 Biggest Hits Artist: Johnny Cash (Usually ships in 24 hours) Too much of Cash's best work is left out to make this collection anything more than a cursory introduction to country's Man in Black. The double-CD compilation, fittingly dubbed The Man in Black, at least allows for some deeper exploration (although it lacks any liner notes whatsoever), while the outstanding three-disc Essential box truly allows you to sink your teeth into this legendary figure. Still, the songs that comprise 16 Biggest Hits do provide a telling snapshot of Cash's substance and style--honest, straightforward, direct music devoid of ulterior motives and delivered with conviction. --Marc Greilsamer 16 Biggest Hits - Hah! This collection is a mixed bag. The biggest problem I have is with the title. I am unsure of how they decided these 16 songs were the "biggest" hits, but it is obvious that many other worthy Johnny Cash songs were left off the CD. If you are looking for a more comprehensive collection, I recommend either "The Essential Johnny Cash," which has 16 tracks, or "The Legend" boxed set, which has more than 100 songs. The best this collection can be is an introduction to Johnny Cash.

Many of my favorite Johnny Cash songs are included in this collection. "I Walk the Line" was made famous anew by the recent movie of the same name. Note how the bass guitar is used in this song. "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" is more spoken than sung, and is about as classic country as there is. "Ring of Fire" is another classic Cash song, written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. "Folsom Prison Blues" seemed ever-present on the radio in the 60s. The Carl Perkins song "Daddy Sang Bass" was another late 60s hit for Cash. "A Boy Named Sue" was a mega-hit for Cash in 1969 on both the country and pop charts, and seemed to be every as it combined light-hearted humor with Cash's down-to-earth style. I am unhappy with this version that song because one portion is bleeped out. Another funny song that was nearly impossible to learn from the radio was "One Piece at a Time," the story of how an auto worker built a Cadillac from parts procured a piece at a time over more than 30 years.

Of course this collection includes many more songs. Many of these songs received a lot of airplay and helped secure Cash's early entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, one of the very few people who have been inducted in all three (Hank Williams, Sr. and Jimmie Rodgers were the others as of the date of this review).

The difficulty with a singer such as Cash, who has received numerous Country Music Awards, Grammy Awards and other awards, is that there is so much music to choose from that meets the requirements of "best." Thus, this CD should never have been called "Best of" because it can not be. If you are really looking for a "best of" that does real justice to Johnny Cash, try either "The Essential Johnny Cash" or "The Legend" boxed set. The price of both makes having either worthwhile, particularly if you are looking for something that is more than just a tantalizing introduction to one of the most influential singers in music history.
I SAY THE CLOSEST YOU'RE GONNA GET.......
The movie has created a whole new buzz for CASH. And with that, you will find that there are NEW collections out there, amongst thousands. I've never been fully satsfied with a CASH collection, each one is slightly different, and they ALL contain songs you don't want, and miss songs you do. That is cuz CASH recorded for more than fifty years, and varied in all sorts of styles..
In my somewhat humble opinion, this is the closest you're gonna get, to them getting it right. It is mainly composed of his grittier material, from the fifties and sixties (thats my kind of stuff, not so much those wrist slitters from the seventies--although, I ain't knockin' those either).
The AMERICAN recordings of the past fifteen years are no where to be found either, so if you are looking for HURT, go get LEGEND.
Theres no JOHN/JUNE duets here either, but they don't fit the mix, this is strictly MAN IN BLACK stuff.
If you REALLY want to get down, I say forget the studio cuts anyways and just get one of the two prison records... CASH IN FOLSOM or CASH IN SAN QUENTIN... but since 10/1 you are here because you just saw the movie, and never even HEARD of JOHNNY CASH before..... this is a good introduction to the stuff that REALLY counts. Plus its the only disc I've been able to find with UNDERSTAND YOUR MAN and IN THE JAILHOUSE NOW. Two essentials. A Good CD To Get You Started This album is a good place to start if you aren't already a long time Johnny Cash fan. It only gives you a glimpse of the talent of the Man In Black, sixteen songs isn't a drop in the bucket of this legend of country music's career. A good CD to have though.

Morning Song Evening Song
Morning Song Evening Song
Morning Song Evening Song Artist: Tim White (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information A masterpiece "Morning Song Evening Song," is an exquisite marriage of musical excellence and the passionate souls of instrument. The vocal interplay of LJ Reynolds and Ron Banks is even better than Ruffin and Kendricks. The Dramatics are another group often overlooked because they bounced around several labels and were overshadowed by the Motown machine. This album showcases the Dramatics at their best...singing stone cold slow songs that have aged incredibly well. In my opinion only one other RB group has the sheer volume of quality slow songs as the Dramatics (The Isley Bros.). Be My Girl is a classic, so is In the Rain, so is Just Shopping, etc. Once you buy this you'll definitely want to pick up vol.2 of their love songs which showcases some of their less known cuts. The scary thing is vol.2 surprised me. It was just as good, which gives the Dramatics 30 amazingly beautiful slow jams. How many groups in any genre of music can say that?
Yo Kanye West/Twista how could you leave the Dramatics out of the list of artists you mention in your hit song? Joking.... Indeed! This CD consist of their greatest love songs. When I was a kid growing up in Detroit, the fellas and I would blow harmony on the street corner to the cuts the Dramatics had recorded. Songs like In The Rain, Door To Your Heart, Just Shopping (Not Buying Anything), I Can't Get Over You, Be My Girl, and Stop Your Weeping just to name a few, were songs we wore out listening to and singing. However, a complete CD of all the drama the Dramatics displayed must include this CD, and other hits such as Toast to a fool, Whatcha see is whatcha get, Fell for you, Get up get down, Thank you for your love, Hey You! get off my mountain, And I panicked, I dedicate my life to you, You're fooling you, Finger fever, Shake it well, Now you got me loving you, Beautiful people, Say the word, Never let you go, Somewhere in time, One love ago, When love is over, Trying to get over losing you, I cried all the way home, Me, myself and I, Good things don't come easy, I get carried away, I was the life of the party, After this dance, Don't make me no promises, Choosing up on you, Tune up, I'm in love (Dells/ Dramatics), and last but not least, Love is missing from our lives (Dells/Dramatics). Put together this CD (Be My Girl: Their Greatest Love Songs), and the other hits I recommended and you have a collection that would be priceless! Forgit How Stoopid This Reviewer Is, Get This NOW, Baby! ...it is literally jam packed. Each cut is a delicious serving of reeaaal R Bee balladry! It has what I consider one of the Top Ten all time Greatest--I say Greatest!--Soul/R Bee Vocal Ballads ever done! The great "Be My Girl" penned by Michael Henderson. But that's the last track on this collection. Which means unless you cheat and skip tracks, you have to WAIT TO HEAR IT....but worry not, y'all. You will better off playing it in sequence in its entirety. It has that "I'll put a hold on your check" catchline used in many a brother's 2 AM club rap (follow me, now) and the beggin' LJ Reynolds goin' into "aw, baaaa-bee, please, babybabybaby, please" vocal overdrive in the perfect "I Can't Get Over You"...it has another classic and perfect tune "Welcome Back Home". Why are you wasting time readin' this?
